Decorate Your Dog with Worldly Inspiration

Hot dogs: the All-American delight that signals summer has come. For a lot of kids, a hot dog is the first thing they learn how to cook for themselves. Between the promise of summer adventures and independence, there’s something truly great about making your hot dog your own with signature toppings that show who you are in the world.

When it comes to what goes on your dog, a lot of what you add might have to do with where you grew up. Think tomatoes are a weird thing to put on a dog? You’re probably not from Chicago. Never added gooey cheese? Well, you’re missing out.

So, when you’re looking for some inspiration or want to show off a little sense of place with your hot dog creations,  here are a few signature creations that reflect the flavors of different regions of the world.

Seattle Dog: Mariners Beef Frank, cream cheese, grilled onions

Tex-Mex Dog: Old Fashioned Frank, crushed tortilla chips, guacamole, queso, and jalapeños; optional: slather on some refried beans

Louisiana Dog: Smoked Old Fashioned Frank, with jambalaya + cajun seasoning

Chicago Dog: Mariners Beef Frank, poppy seed bun, sweet relish, diced onions, tomatoes, hot peppers, pickle spear, celery salt

New York Reuben: Fletcher’s Redhook Brat, pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, topped with Thousand Island dressing

How do you like to decorate your dog?

Great ideas for hot dog toppings! The Seattle Dog, Tex-Mex Dog, Chicago Dog, Louisiana Dog, and New York Reuben.
